Samah Itani

Urban Designer

Samah Itani is an urban designer with a background in urban planning and architectural design. Her academic and professional experiences include:

  •  Design of streetscapes, the public realm, and public spaces
  • Smart City Plan development and best practices
  • Creation of interactive public outreach materials and presentations
  • Rendering, and 3D modeling of conceptual architectural and urban designs
  • Green infrastructure and sustainable design practices
  • Community participation and workshop planning and facilitation

Samahs work at CD+A includes the design and drafting of street diagrams, detailed drawing and sections, green infrastructure elements, and roadway designs. Her recent project experience includes the design and production of an improved multi modal environment for the East Whisman Precise Plan in Mountain View, by adding green infrastructure elements and pedestrian and bicycle paths.

Her previous work consists of surveying communities and gauging preferences for local improvements to public spaces along the Los Angeles River. While working as the innovation intern at the City of West Hollywood she helped develop the framework and design the Request for Proposal (RFP) for the first Smart City Strategic Plan, and organized focus groups with community members to develop the communication strategy and visual brand identity for the plan..
