Community Design + Architecture is an urban design, planning, landscape architecture, transportation/land use planning, and architecture firm. We provide planning and design services to create, implement, and manage sustainable, thriving, and equitable communities, neighborhoods, streets, and public spaces. Our expertise focuses on mixed-use and pedestrian-friendly community design, multimodal complete and green streets, places for people, and integrated transportation / land use planning. For over 20 years, we have been innovating ways for people to live, travel, and share their experiences.
We practice a community-oriented and context-sensitive design and planning process to meet the needs and goals of the communities we serve. Community Design + Architecture was formed by Philip Erickson, Architect, in September 1997, following his 15 prior years of practice with several planning, urban design, and architecture firms in the Bay Area. His and CD+A’s work strives to create places that enhance the livability of neighborhoods and communities and provide pedestrian-friendly streets and public spaces.
Our firm has experience working throughout the Western United States (California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Idaho, and Colorado), Florida, Minnesota, Virginia, New York, and internationally in the Philippines, Indonesia, Australia, Dubai and Japan. We aspire for collaborative work and to build relationships with local communities and clients wherever we can be of service.
